Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens reported in Spain
Symptoms of bacterial wilt were observed on beans (Phaseolus vulgaris cv. ‘Donna’) in Southern Spain. Samples were collected from 4 fields (coast of Granada, Andalucia) and the isolated bacterium was identified as Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens (EPPO A2 list). It is noted that this pathogen had first been isolated in Spain from seeds in 2001. According to the authors, this is the first report of damage caused by this bacterium in the field.
The situation of Curtobacterium flaccumfaciens pv. flaccumfaciens in Spain can be described as follows: Present, found in a few fields in the south (Andalucia).
