First report of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. poinsetiicola on Euphorbia pulcherrima in Lombardia (IT)
The regional plant protection service of the Lombardia region, Italy, recently informed the EPPO Secretariat of the first occurrence of Xanthomonas axonopodis pv. poinsetiicola (EPPO Alert List). The bacterium was detected on Euphorbia pulcherrima cvs. Primero and Freedom growing in 2 nurseries in Beverate (province of Lecco) and Concorezzo (province of Milano). This is the first time that X. axonopodis pv. poinsettiicola is detected in Lombardia. It can be recalled that the bacterium had been reported in 2003 in the Lazio region (see EPPO RS 2004/175).
