Aphelenchoides besseyi in South Africa

So far, in South Africa, Aphelenchoides besseyi (EPPO A2 quarantine pest) had only been intercepted on imported orchid plants from South East Asia, on flower bulbs from Europe and on rice bran from Malawi. However, it has been recently found on locally-grown strawberries, flower bulbs and garlic. A survey has indicated that the distribution of A. besseyi in South Africa is limited.
