Detection technique for Aphelenchoides besseyi in rice germplasm
The detection of Aphelenchoides besseyi (EPPO A2 list) in rice germplasm has been simplified by the Indian Plant Quarantine Division: rice seeds are soaked in water in Petri dishes for 6 h, after which the seed coat is removed. Any nematodes present will recover from their state of anhydrobiosis and start immediately to float out.
