Pesticide resistance of Spodoptera littoralis
Laboratory experiments in Egypt were carried out to study insecticide resistance of Spodoptera littoralis, (EPPO A2 pest), using urea derivatives and their mixtures with insecticides; methomyl with diflubenzuron, chlorpyrifos with diflubenzuron and sulprofos with triflumuron.
During three years, the resistance level of urea derivatives fluctuated. Urea/insecticide mixtures proved to be efficient in the first year, but two years later some strains of S. littoralis were highly resistant to some mixtures.
The authors conclude that resistance of S. littoralis to urea derivatives alone or in mixtures with insecticides is most likely to occur.
