Genetic variance of Rhagoletis pomonella
In the USA experiments were carried out to study the patterns of genetic variance in Rhagoletis pomonella (EPPO A1 Pest) from different parts of the country.
Populations from the native range of the apple maggot in eastern USA showed low levels of heterogeneity. Populations from the western part of the USA where the pest has spread widely during the last decade, however, were significantly different from eastern flies and showed a substantial heterogeneity among populations.
