Gamma irradiation against Bactrocera spp.
In Australia, mangoes infested with eggs or larvae of Bactrocera tryoni and B. jarvisi (EPPO A1 pests) were subjected to gamma irradiation in order to test this method as a means to disinfest mangoes.
At doses between 74-101 Gy and trial populations of >100.000 individuals no adults emerged after the treatment and Probit 9 at the 95% confidence level was achieved.
