Unsuccessful fumigation treatment against Frankliniella occidentalis
In the USA experiments were carried out to test fumigation as a quarantine treatment against Frankliniella occidentalis (EPPO A2 pest) in export cut flowers.
Carnations were wrapped in polyethylene bags which contained 1% chloropyrifos as a fumigant. After 3 days at a refrigeration of +1° C the population of Frankliniella occidentalis was reduced by half. Complete control could not be achieved.
