Eradication status of Anthonomus grandis in USA
Since Anthonomus grandis (EPPO Al List) first appeared in USA in 1892, it has infested 85 % of cotton-producing areas. A total of 3 million ha are, or have until recently been, infested. The US Boll Weevil Eradication Project has, within the last 11 years, conducted successful eradication programs in California, North Carolina and Virginia. It has now extended to Arizona, Florida and parts of Alabama and Georgia, as well as Northwestern Mexico.
