Status of peach latent mosaic and peach yellow mosaic
The EPPO Panel on Pathogen-free Certification of Fruit Crops recently heard that the disease known in Japan, as peach yellow mosaic is caused by a viroid. Studies at NRA, Bordeaux (FR) have similarly shown that a viroid causes the disease described as 'peach latent mosaic', found on peach material imported from USA. Both these diseases reportedly have symptoms similar to those of 'peach mosaic' (EPPO Al List) as described in North America. The question is therefore posed whether American peach mosaic could be the same or very similar to these viroid-induced diseases.
