Phytophthora fragariae detected by ELISA
An antiserum to P. fragariae (EPPO A2 List) was developed which detected 11 strains of this species but not 18 strains of other fungi attacking strawberry roots. P. fragariae can be detected by DAS-ELISA 15 days after inoculation, before oospores are found or symptoms appear. The method is being assessed for its practical potential for testing strawberry planting material in nurseries. (E. Amouzou-Alladaye et al., INRA, Pont-de -la-Maye, FR ; abstract P. III-2-42).
