Further fireblight incidents in Switzerland
Since the incident reported in EPPO Reporting Service 500/09, two further cases of fireblight attack (Erwinia amylovora - A2 EPPO list) were found in 1989 on Cotoneaster salicifolius at Eschenz
(close to the original case on C. dammeri at Stein-am-Rhein). The disease was also found at Stammheim (in Zürich canton), 5 km SW, in three gardens on C. dammeri and in a nursery on C. salicifolius in containers. All Cotoneaster plantings in the gardens were removed and destroyed, and in the nursery, all host plants (except fruit trees). Inspection programmes have continued intensively in 1990 but no outbreak has been detected.
