Cases of fireblight at St Julien-en-Genevois, France.
In October 1981, the French Plant Protection Service detected some cases of fireblight at St Julien-en-Genevois (Haute-Savoie), on Cotoneaster dammeri (Royal Beauty). The plants were imported in August 1981 and at that time showed no symptoms at all of the disease. However, Erwinia amylovora was definitely identified after the appearance of symptoms. All the imported plants, and all plants susceptible to fireblight in the nursery concerned, have been destroyed, and thorough inspection of the nursery and its surroundings has shown no signs of any attack on native plants.
The area of St. Julien will remain under intensive surveillance in 1982.
