EPPO Reporting Service (2015/130) : first found in 2014 in potato tubers (Solanum tuberosum cvs. ‘Diamant’ and ‘Spunta’) showing typical symptoms of ring rot were observed in the governorates of Assiut, Gharbia, Menoufia, Minia, and Sohag.
EPPO Reporting Service (2015/162) : the NPPO of Egypt officially declared that ring rot was absent from its territory and pointed out several flaws in the published record (Seleim et al., 2014), including unclear sampling procedures and locations, absence of positive controls in the study, and absence of bacterial strains deposited in a reference collection. This record is considered as unconfirmed. Active surveillance of potato bacteria is continuing in Egypt.
