EPPO Reporting Service (2005/085) : first found (as B. invadens) in February 2003. Although Kenya was the first place of discovery, it should not be assumed that is was the point of entry into Africa, as the pest may have been overlooked in other areas.
According to Eseki et al. (2009), it is displacing Ceratitis cosyra on mango crops.
