Phytophthora austrocedri(PHYTAU)
Distribution details in Argentina
EPPO Reporting Service (2009/007) : Phytophthora austrocedrae is a newly described species which is considered as the main cause of tree mortality on Austrocedrus chilensis in Argentina. The disease (mal del cipres) has been observed on Austrocedrus chilensis in cities and forests.
From Vélez et al. (2020): the disease 'mal del cipres' was first documented in the 1940s (causing tree mortality) on an island located in Nahuel Huapi Lake. Now present in many places throughout the natural range of Austrocedrus chilensis distribution. It is considered that 'mal del cipres' is caused by P. austrocedri, C. cupressi, and climate-related stress. During surveys, P. austrocedri has been detected along most of the distributional range of A. chilensis in Argentina.

------- Agressiveness, disease progression pattern and low genetic diversity strongly suggest that P. autrocedrae has been introduced into Argentina.
