Phytophthora pinifolia(PHYTPF)
Distribution details in Chile
First recorded in: 2004
EPPO Reporting Service (2009/006) : unusual mortality was observed in 2004 in a Pinus radiata stand on the Arauco coast in Chile. In July 2007, the causal agent was identified as a new Phytophthora species called Phytophthora pinifolia.
EPPO Reporting Service (2011/177) : after the initial detection in 2004, the disease rapidly spread from the initial foci (70 ha) to 60 000 ha in 2006. But from 2007 to 2008, the affected area reduced to less than 500 ha, confined to road borders and coastal areas.
