Situation
Current pest situation evaluated by EPPO on the basis of information dated 2024: Absent, pest no longer present
Comments
Potato marginal flavescence was reported in 1971 from Fagu Farm of ICAR-CPRI, Shimla (Himachal Pradesh) and was thought to be associated with a phytoplasma belonging to the aster yellows group, Old World type (like potato stolbur phytoplasma). It was regarded as similar to potato purple toproll phytoplasma by Khurana et al. (1988).

Since then, rigorous roguing was followed every season in the farm to eradicate the disease. As of 2024, the disease is no longer observed and phytoplasmas are no longer detected.
