EPPO Reporting Service (2000/131) : first report, on 3 nectarine trees at two sites in an orchard near Niagara, Ontario. Surveillance gave 681 positive samples out of 41346, from 30 different locations, 27 from Niagara peninsula, 1 from Simcoe and 2 from Blenheim. First findings were associated with trees from Pennsylvania (US), where PPV has recently been found, but later findings were not, so the origin of the infestation is not clear. Status is "Present: only in some areas in Ontario province, under eradication".
EPPO Reporting Service (2001/010) : further surveying in Ontario, Québec, British Columbia and Nova Scotia gave 947 positive samples in Ontario, and one from Nova Scotia. Origin of outbreak traced to a nursery in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
EPPO Reporting Service (2003/053) : in 2002 found only at a few places in Ontario, no longer in Nova Scotia
NAPPO Annual meeting 2004: planned to eradicate over a 7-year period
