The original source (Burbano & Ruiz, 1943) of the record of T. tritici in Ecuador does not mention sampling or the identification of the fungus in the laboratory. This old record has never been confirmed by more recent ones. In addition, the NPPO of Ecuador has officially confirmed the absence of the fungus from its territory. This old record is therefore considered to be invalid.
