Xylella taiwanensis(XYLETA)
Distribution details in Taiwan
First recorded in: 1990s
EPPO Reporting Service (1994/49) : first record on Asian pear (Pyrus pyrifolia).
EPPO Reporting Service (1996/204) : present on pear causing leaf scorch in several regions (only 2 out of 10 were free), with incidence from 5 to 43%.
EPPO Reporting Service (2007/187) : strains from Taiwan (causing pear leaf scorch) formed a cluster distinct from other known clusters of X. fastidiosa.
EPPO Reporting Service (2017/103) : further molecular and phylogenetic studies have shown that the bacterial strain isolated from P. pyrifolia in Taiwan is a new and distinct species which has been tentatively called Xylella taiwanensis sp. nov.
