Notes

Native to Mediterranean, Black Sea, Caucasus, Central Asia (Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan), Western Asia (Iraq, Iran). This species is the parent of the cultivated leek (Allium porrum), and many authors consider that the latter should simply be known as a form of A. ampeloprasum. In this database, however, A. porrum is maintained as a separate entry.
