D. virgifera virgifera occurs in the eastern part of Austria (Burgenland, Niederösterreich, Steiermark). In 2008, isolated outbreaks were detected in the west part (Tyrol) and southern part (Kärnten).
EPPO Reporting Service (2002/109) : first trapped in 2002 in Burgenland (8 specimens in July). Extensive monitoring now in place.
EPPO Reporting Service (2002/140) : since trapped in parts of Burgenland and Nieder-Österreich, near Slovakian border. Official measures taken.

EPPO Reporting Service (2004/058) : 8673 beetles caught in 256 traps in 2003. Mostly in Burgenland (8330), some in Nieder-Österreich (339) and only 4 in Steiermark. Spread from Hungary and Slovakia along the entire eastern frontier.
EPPO Reporting Service (2008/154) : isolated outbreak found in Tyrol (west part of the country). Eradication measures are implemented in Tyrol. The pest status for Tyrol was officially declared as: Local outbreak, under eradication .
