Comments
Plum pox is under intensive official control in France. Total incidence of the disease is very low, and outbreaks are very localized.

EPPO Reporting Service 506/04. Original introduction was of strain PPV-D.

EPPO Reporting Service (1993/088): M serotype (on peach and apricot), detected in late 1980s, reported to multiply faster and produce more serious symptoms than D serotype (on apricot).

EPPO Reporting Service (1997/190) : mainly present in southeast, in the three regions Languedoc-Roussillon, Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur and Rhône-Alpes. Incidence of disease rose in the late 80s (with the appearance of the M strain, see above), then more or less stabilized in 1993/1995. Since then, there has been a sharp increase in Rhône-Alpes (mainly PPV-M).
