According to Jeffries (1998), the virus has not been reported from potatoes in Canada for more than 50 years. Historical presence of this virus in potato in Canada (Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec and New Brunswick) is recorded in Barrus & Chupp (1922), Cromwell & Lavelée (1942) and Conners (1967).
The current distribution of PYDV in these provinces is uncertain.
