The distribution of this bacterium is rather uncertain. It was restricted to South America (Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Brazil) where it was described to cause B and C canker, although nowadays these bacteria are not associated with outbreaks in any area (Licciardello et al., 2022). Absence has been confirmed in Argentina and Uruguay (B type strains having been replaced by A type strains - X. citri pv. citri).
